Company overview
Newgen was started in 1996 to offer SGML-based journals production to UK publishers. In the intervening 12 years, the company has extended its service portfolio and broadened its client base to different publishing strands and new geographies. This has made Newgen one of the largest and fastest‐growing publishing and data services providers in the world, with 730 staff across four offices in India (three in Chennai and one in Bangalore). We have a client liaison office in Oxford, United Kingdom. Since 2005, we have also had a U.S. production office in Austin, Texas, and in 2008 we opened another U.S. office in Ossining, New York.
In 2007–8, Newgen typeset one million pages of books and journals for clients in the United States and the United Kingdom, of which we project managed and edited some 750,000 pages. Our data operations in Chennai converted more than four million pages of published documents and files to electronic formats, including searchable PDF, XML, HTML, SGML, CD-Roms, and e-books.
