Full-service project management by Newgen frees up clients' resources, allowing them to focus on adding value. Currently we provide publishers including Palgrave Macmillan, Taylor & Francis, and CRC Press with project management from typescript through to print-ready PDFs.
All project management at Newgen -whether for a multivolume encyclopaedia or for a stream of scholarly monographs- comprises three key stages: |
 |
| Planning |
Planning begins with workflow analysis, scoping, and scheduling. This is followed by documentation, defining rules for areas such as interaction with authors and publishers, reporting, and exceptions management.
Once Newgen's plan has been refined and approved by the client, we plan the resourcing and the necessary tool development, including quality assurance programmes for the project. Following a pilot project for proof of concept, documentation, tools, and project-specific training are implemented within the team. Following any necessary refinement of the processes, the project goes live. |
 |
| Execution |
| Execution is enabled by experienced project managers, a team structure that is client focused, and intelligent automation at each stage. |
 |
| Reviews |
Reviews are held both within the Newgen team and with the client's production team on a fortnightly basis. This ensures understanding of, and proactive engagement with, the production process to prevent last-minute surprises.
Checklists and audits at all stages ensure process conformity, and production tracking databases are used to allow project snapshots at any point in time. Error analysis reports and continuous training to improve team members' skill levels are regularly reviewed by management.
The client's production team is sent weekly status reports, and quarterly business performance reports are submitted to the client's senior management as part of the account management process.
Narada, Newgen's integrated mail management system, supports project management by automatically routing all mails to individual teams for prompt response. The system's built-in escalation routines ensure that no mail goes unanswered and communication with the client is where it belongs: at the heart of the process.
